Blood Clotting warning signs that should not be ignored

It is a healthy sign when blood clots to stop external bleeding due to an injury, however, sometimes it occurs without it needing to stop the eternal bleeding. In such cases, blood clotting can be life threatening. Internal clotting can cause heart attack, stroke, and other dangerous medical conditions.




Regular blood flow to every part of our body is necessary and it is important that the process is smooth and without any medical condition. More often than not, we take many signs of blood clotting lightly, which might lead to a fatal condition later.




There are ways to know in case you are suffering through internal blood clotting.

1. Swelling in one limb

One kind of blood clotting called Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). In this case, there is a lack of oxygen reach in the vital organs of human body, which causes poor blood circulation. It results in swelling. If there is swelling in one or more limb, chances are it is a case of DVT. Leg pain and tenderness is also one of the symptoms of DVT and it should not be ignored or taken lightly.




2. Visible Red along your Veins

If you notice red streaks along your veins, these are life threatening red marks caused by clotting – they are bruises which will also make your skin feel warm to touch.

In such a case, a person must seek medical help immediately.

3. Chest Pain and Heavy Breathing

Chest pains and heavy breathing should never be ignored. In case, if an individual is facing both together – chances are that they are suffering a blood clot in their lungs. A clot in the lungs can be very fatal. In such a case, it should not be ignored even for a second and medical help should be immediately sought.

4. A cough without cold

In this case, an individual gets a regular cough without being sick or suffering common cold – it might possibly be a case of clotting. Rapid heart rate, shortness of breath and chest pain are the signs to look out for. Medical help should immediately be taken.

5. Vomiting or Diarrhoea

Severe vomiting and diarrhoea is not a normal condition any day, however, if it persists for a long period and is recurring, there might be a clot in your abdomen. A doctor’s help should be sought immediately as it can also lead to death.

6. Severe, Chronic headaches

If an individual is going through repetitive bouts of chronic headaches, blurry vision and inability to speak, there is a high chance of a clot in your blood. This could also lead to a severe neurological problem. It should not be left unattended and a neuro-specialist should immediately be consulted.

7. Shortness of Breath

Shortness of breath should not be taken lightly – dizziness, racing heart, fluttering sensation in the chest, it might be because of a clot in your lung. Especially, if these symptoms are occurring together, chances of a blood clot in your lungs are high and it demands immediate medical attention.
