Papaya Leaf Extract is a Powerful Cancer Fighter: While the antioxidants, digestive enzymes and other nutritional factors in papaya can provide some protection against developing cancer, recent research studies are showing papaya leaves may have potential as a cancer treatment for those already suffering from the disease.

A study conducted by University of Florida researchers Dr. Nam Dang and colleagues in Japan found that an extract made from dried papaya leaves killed cancer cells directly and slowed the growth of tumor cells in cultures without the negative consequences of chemotherapy. The researchers used papaya leaf extract for the study conduction, with the anticancer effects being even stronger with a larger dose of the extract. In addition, the research showed for the first time that papaya leaf extract boosts production of Th1-type cytokines, which are key signaling molecules and very important in the regulation of the immune system.

The antioxidants such as vitamin C, E and beta carotene, found in papayas help in the destruction of cancer-causing cells. It also gives relief to patients undergoing chemotherapy as it treats mouth sores, nausea and vomiting.

Papaya contains dietary fibers and antioxidants that help to flush out the harmful cancer- causing toxins present in the colon; as a result it prevents the body from developing colon cancer. For best results use quarter pint of papaya juice i.e. 150 ml and combine with green bean juice and cucumber juice in the same quantities, consume this mixture after every hour, during 12 hours of the day. This mixture works as a natural cleanser for your colon.

For the study, researchers exposed 10 different types of cancers including cervix, breast, liver, lung, and pancreatic to papaya leaf extract. In every case, the papaya leaf extract slowed the growth of the tumors. Additionally, the researchers analyzed the impact the papaya leaf extract had on the production of cytokines and noted that the extract could very well be used to help immune related conditions like inflammation, autoimmune disease, and
many cancers.

A Homemade Cancer Treatment?

Stan Sheldon from the Gold Coast in Australia who was reported to be dying from lung cancer, cured himself with extracts made from papaya leaf.

He used the liquid from papaya leaves boiled and simmered in a pan, for two months before being tested to find both lungs clear of any traces of cancer. He said the disease had not reappeared several decades later and he had passed his treatment on to others, many of whom were also cured.

Preparation of the juice:

Wash several medium sized papaya leaves, cut them up and place them in a saucepan with two litres of water. Heat the leaves in the water until it boils and reduce it to a simmer until the water is reduced by half. This may take a couple of hours. Once it does, 50 ml of the resulting concentrated papaya leaf liquid 3 times a day is the suggested dosage.

The liquid can be kept in the fridge in a large glass (not plastic) container and should last for several days, though it was recommended to discard it if it became too cloudy. For better  taste add little honey.

Instead of boiling them, juice them with a good masticating juicer for better results.

Many of us don’t have access to a supply of fresh papaya leaves though, or may just be interested in a preventative rather than a potential treatment. Dried papaya leaf is much easier to take regularly as a tea and has been reported as beneficial for cancer sufferers when combined with other cancer treatments.

There are many health benefits of papaya fruit itself, such as its rich array of antioxidants and phytonutrients that can help protect against diseases like cancer.

Digestive enzymes, particularly in fruits that are just turning from green to yellow, may also help dissolve the protective layer of fibrin that surrounds cancerous tumours and prevents them from being destroyed by our immune system.

Papaya leaves also contain papain and other proteolytic enzymes but analysis also shows many other biologically active compounds including the alkaloids carpaine, pseudocarpaine and dehydrocarpaine; high levels of tannins, flavonols and antioxidants; and a substance called benzyl isothiocyanate, which is currently being studied for its chemo preventive properties.

I would absolutely love new info on papaya and I would love to hear from any one who used it to improve their health.
